Photo Sailpilot 2009Approach: quite difficult

Shelter: medium - alternative shelter: Admiralty Bay 4 M.

Night entrance: No - Night anchorage: Yes

Draft: No issue

Beware: Currents in the entrance - Anchorage swings unpredictably due to wind in the bay.

Waypoints: Approach: 12° 59 N - 061° 14 W - Stop: 12° 59,4 N - 061° 14,2 W

Anchorage: on mud - medium to bad holding - possibly mooring buoys

Leg: 340° V - 0,4 M

Do not attempt to pass between Semples Cay and Bequia. Approach in the center of the channel to avoid reefs from Semples Cay in the West and St Hilaire Point in the East. Currents are strong and their direction is difficult to predict.

Once inside the bay, beware of the shoal just West of the hotel dock. This shoal seems to stretch out further than indicated on the charts. Pick up one of the hotel's moorings or anchor on mud 2 - 5 meters, medium to rather bad holding. The bottom is littered with old chains and barrels; quite an anchor trap!

Keep plenty of swining room as this is rather unpredictable due to squalls from changing directions. Use two anchors.

Going ashore: on the beach or the hotel dock.
