  • wpt 3 : 12° 00, 74' N - 061° 42, 69' W

Anchorage: Good holding on mud

Approach should only be attempted before noon with good visibility. Knowledge of pilotage in coral is advisable.

From the west, keep away from Fort Jeudy Point which is not at all sound and approach the waypoint steering north.

From the east, approach the waypoint steering 260° true or more to keep off the shoal located approximately 12° 00, 18' N - 061° 41, 68' W.

From the approach waypoint where you should have 25 m. sounding, steer 325° magnetic to waypoint 2. To port you should clearly seen breakers on the reefs offlying Fort Jeudy Point. Depth slowly diminishes to 18-19 meters.

Once you have reached the waypoint 2 and identified a shoal on starboard (only the colour of the water warns of a depth of 1.5 to 3 meters), steer slightly to starboard 340° magnetic. This way you avoid the last of the breakers offlying Fort Jeudy.

Then steer 330° magnetic towards waypoint 3 and the lush green mangrove. On starboard the shoals are clearly visible. To port the coast is sounder. Depth remains above 12 m. At the waypoint turn around the sand bank (see photo); depth should not decrease less than 6.8 m.

Anchor in the bottom of Calvigny Harbour on 5.5 m. soft mud and good holding. Perfect shelter.

Caution, the western part of the bay is very shallow, about 20 cm! Not indicated on charts.

going ashore: on the sand bank. Docks are all private.
