Approach: Difficult

Shelter: Excellent

Night approach: No - Overnight: Yes

Darft: No issue

Beware: Many reefs

Waypoint:11° 59, 42' N - 061° 42, 70 W

Anchorage: Good holding on soft mud

Approach this bay only before noon and with good visibility. A knowledge of pilotage in coral reefs is advisable.

Come to the waypoint and identify Fort Jeudy Point with many offlying reefs and islets.

Steer 355° magnetic towards the bottom of the bay and a house with pointed red roofs (see photo). Soundings are 15 m. at waypoint and should rapidly decrease to 8 m. and then increase back to 12 m. during the approach. Some charts indicate a possible anchorage just north-east of Adam Island, but we couldn't find it.

Having passed Gary Island, steer to port on 345° magnetic to the bay, in front of the beach. A few small boats are moored there.

Anchor in front of the beach on 12 meters soft mud and good holding.

We haven't attempted to enter Port Egmont proper. The pass is supposed to have 3 to 4 meter and there are 6 to 7 meters inside.

Going ashore: on the beach.
