Mitan coveAccess: Very easy

Shelter: Good

Night approach: YES - Night anchorage: Yes

Draft: No issue

Beware: The "caye aux couillons" !

Waypoints: 14° 33, 49 N - 061° 03, 60 W

Anchorage: On sand, good holding - avoid coral reefs.

Approach straightforward, even at night. The lights on the coast make this simple. The only danger is the "caye de l'Anse Mitan", better known as the "caye aux couillons", marked with a red and black danger buoy.

The anchorage is rather crowded, make sure you have scope for swinging. An area dedicated to nautical activities is marked with yellow buoys, keep out. Anchor on sand 3 to 5 meters depth and good holding. Avoid damaging the coral.

There is an alternative anchorage, less crowded but also less sheltered to the north of the bay: just to the west of the Pointe du Bout on sand and coral, 3 meters depth and good holding.

The Bakoua jetty where it used to be possible to dock to make fuel has disappeared and it is not planned to rebuild it.

Going ashore: On the beach or on the dock north of the Bakoua Hotel, ou in the Pointe du Bout marina.
