sailpilot.com 2011Approach: Easy

Shelter: Good

Night approach: No - Overnight anchorage: Yes

Draft: 4 meters

Beware: Crowded anchorage, make sure you have enough swinging room.

Waypoints: 12° 38,2 N - 061° 21,7 W

Anchorage: If available, use a mooring buoy to avoid damaging the sea bed.

Good holding on sand between 1.5 and 10 meters.

The passage between Petit Rameau and Petit Bateau is straightforward. The soundings should never be less than 3.5 meters.

Once surrounded by the cays you can weigh anchor:

  • Leeward of Baradal. This is the most crowded. The advantage of this mooring is that you can just swim over to the beach.
  • North of Baradal. This is less crowded but also less sheltered.
  • Windward of Baradal. Beware of the depth; it is not advisable to attempt sailing around Baradal by the East with a draft over 1.5 meters.

All of these are of good holding on sand. The bottom is quite flat.

Don't forget the Cays are a National Park: comply to the rules.

Going ashore: on the beach!
