Approach: Straightforward
Shelter: Good - alternative shelter: Marina Bas-du-Fort 3 M.
Landfall at night: Yes
Night at anchor: Yes
Draft: No issue
Warning: Cayes leeward of the Ilet Gosier. There is no approach from the East: the coral reef extending from Guadeloupe to the islet cannot be passed.
Waypoints: 16°12.1 N - 061°29.6 W

Approach from the waypoint heading NE to avoid the reefs. Head for the red and white lighthouse, which is visible at a distance, then follow the church spire (which looks like a building) in the village "le Gosier" on the coast. Anchor between the islet and the coast on 3.5 to 6 meters.
This pleasant and airy anchorage is not far from Pointe-à-Pitre but there are no services for boats. There's nothing on the islet apart from the lighthouse, bars during the day-time and some beautiful vistas. Visit before 9 or after 17:00 to avoid the crowds. Snorkelling on the reefs is disappointing. The village is pleasant and has a small supermarket, a post office, a bakery and a pharmacy as well as bars and restaurants.
